How will the 3DS be advertised? that’s the big question.

Well in this image it definitely look pretty slick, cool and ready to take on the world, but the truth is Nintendo have admitted that advertising this new handheld, the 3DS, will be a tricky thing to do.

Why? I hear you ask.

The reason is because the console is a 3D graphical leader in technology which is great, but how can you show people the kind of footage and screen shots you need to when promoting the product when most modern technology is not capable of doing it justice. The game play wont look 3D as it is meant to making the 3DS look terrible. Nintendo have realised this potential problem and during an interview with Edge Magazine Hideki Konno says “…we think regular marketing and promotional activities will be very tricky for us. I think that a lot of awareness about 3DS will be spread by word of mouth.”

We will find out later in the year as to weather the 3DS will be a flop or conquer the handheld market.

E3 2010 and the new Handheld 3DS

With the E3 show on the horizon the chat about computer consoles is at a high and Nintendo is right up as one of the top players as one would expect. This time the E3 show promises information for the awaited Nintendo handheld console the 3DS, although the name of which is likely to be confirmed/changed at this event. After browsing the web today I came across an article on the IGN site commenting that there is a chance the new handheld 3DS will be more powerful for graphics than the Wii, and close to that of the Xbox 360 and Playstation3.

Its not been long since the release of the latest DS family member, the DSI XL which is an upgrade from the DSi and hold larger gaming screens. The 3DS is due for release in October this year and is the first 3D graphical handheld from NIntendo and could revolutionize the handheld market.

Keep checking back to this blog for the latest information as we report on the latest Nintendo events.

For cheap Nintendo consoles and accessories then visit our online store where you will find some of the cheapest prices for Nintendo products on the web. Cheap Nintendo Handhelds

The Nintendo DSi is the most recent member of the DS family and boasts some nice additions to the previous DS Lite. Take a look below to see what all the fuss is about.

Two screens, 3.25 inches in size. They are larger than the previous DS Lite and have a resolution of 256 x 192. The screens are smaller than the Sony PSP which has a 4.3 inch display and the Apple I-touch at 3.5 inch but bear in mind that the DSi has two screens creating a bigger viewing area.

Cameras. Two cameras provide the DSi with unique gaming abilities and one of them is VGA. The first camera is located on the internal hinge to capture the players face and the second is located externally on the corner of the lid allowing the user to take pictures like a proper camera and using the gaming screens to view the shot. The PSP has an optional camera, which is 1.3mega pixels. The iPod Touch has a built in camera of 2 mega pixels.

Memory wise the Nintendo DSi provides an SD Card slot along with internal flash memory storage of 256mb. The PSP can hold a memory card of up to 16gb and the iPod Touch has 8 to 32gb depending on which size the owner opts for.

All handhelds mentioned have Wi-Fi capabilities. This is an excellent feature which allows users to surf the web, connect with other consoles of the same type, and download new games, applications and software updates. They all have their own customised stores. Nintendo DSi has the DSi – ware shop, PSP has the PS Store and the iPod Touch uses the App Store.

The DSi has single touch screen technology, the PSP does not have this capability although there is a home brew piece of equipment that owners can buy to set up their own touch screen function. The iPod Touch does have touch screen which is multi-touch technology.

The Nintendo DSi is 12% thinner than the DS Lite but the length is a little longer. The power switch on the DS Lite has been replaced to a button on the DSi which is going back to the original DS. A matted finish has been applied compared to the gloss finish of the DS Lite, which is meant to prevent showing finger prints.

The CPU in the Nintendo DSi is an ARM clocked at 133 MHz and has 16 MB of RAM. and the speakers have been improved from the previous model.

If you are wondering whether you should trade in their current Nintendo DS or DS Lite for the new and improved Nintendo DSi then read on. Within this article you will find all the information you need to decide whether or not the new Nintendo DSi is the latest handheld console for you and how to go about getting the cheapest price possible when buying one.

There are many upgraded features the new DSi carries compared to earlier DS generations. The new model benefits from having 2 motion detecting cameras which ensures ultimate interactivity when playing games as well as taking photos more easily. Photos can also be manipulated and enhanced.

The Nintendo DSi doubles up as a portable music device that allows users to listen to music in aac format. There is also the capabilities to edit your listening experience by playing with the equaliser, pitch, sound filtering, effects and speed functions.

The previous Gameboy card slot found in older models has been replaced with a SD Card slot which means you can store and transport your music and photo files more conveniently.

Online functions mean you can download the free Nintendo browser, surf the web and browse the Nintendo Store. Not to mention downloading software updates and games straight to the console.

Stats show the new handheld is 12% thinner and the screens are 17% bigger making the new Nintendo DSi the most portable handheld currently available.

There are several ways of purchasing your new Nintendo DSi but to get the best price you will need to shop around. Online is your best bet with prices being at their most competitive. Don’t rule out places like eBay as they often sell new consoles at excellent prices and used Nintendo handhelds for great value and in mint condition. The other place to look for your console is Amazon. They will more than likely be giving you free delivery on your purchase and it is a brilliant market place for Nintendo Bundles.

Where ever you end up buying from make sure you are using a secure and trusted site and when you have paid for it the only thing left to do is wait for it to arrive through the post. The Nintendo DSi truly is an amazing piece of technology with great potential and will bring hours of enjoyment.

5th Cell’s unique puzzle platform game Scribblenauts for the Handheld DS won the best original game and best handheld game of E3 2009. The game challenges the player to write down words on the touch screen which then magically appear as objects in the game to help you overcome its tricky challenges. The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story also won the best Handheld Game award.

“Other winners appearing on Nintendo platforms are DJ Hero (Activision) bringing home Best Social/Casual/Puzzle Game, and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars (Capcom) bagging Best Fighting Game of E3 2009. Our congratulations to all the winners!” source: Nintendo.com

OK, so you’ve taken the plunge and bought yourself the new console from the Handheld DS range and with any luck you opted for the Cheap Nintendo DSi store page, so you haven’t had to pay full whack. Anyway, now you have the handheld console what next?

There’s a lot to do with your new toy, and you don’t even have to slot in the game card yet to find out. To begin with you might want to start snapping a few photos to check out the inbuilt cameras which can then be stored on an SD Card which makes transporting and transferring the photos easy or on the inbuilt Nintendo DSi memory. The cameras software allows you to take 11 different styles of photos which can then be manipulated and using the wireless connection you can send images for free between you and another Nintendo DSi.

Similarly to the photo editing functions the new DSi allows you to edit audio sound as well. The in built microphone allows you to record sounds which you can then play around with by using any one of the filters available. The SD Card will let you store your tracks and creations in AAC format so you can then transfer your sound files to other devices.

Once your setup with a wireless connection you will be able to access the DSiWare store from which you can download games and applications. If you have bought your Nintendo DSi brand-new then don’t forget that the first time you connect to the shop via your wireless connection you will be awarded DSi points as part of a limited time promotion offered by Nintendo. You can read more about that here. (Nintendo DSi Points Promotion). Point can then be redeemed for games and apps. There are also free games and apps available.

All this to do before you’ve even played your first game. The new Nintendo DSi is packed full of features and software so don’t forget to explore it all.

To find out how you can get a Cheap Nintendo DSi visit our store page.

With the new Nintendo DSi about to hit the Europe market on April 3rd it is more than likely that the Nintendo DSi will become the most popular handheld console on the market to date.

The Nintendo DSi has already been released in Japan where sales have topped over 2 million in only five months and sales are still going strong. Game Stop’s CEO Bob McKenzie has confirmed that the pre-order sales figure has already doubled that of the original Nintendo DS. All this adds up to a hit console for Nintendo.

The DSi is an interactive device for the whole family and means it appeals to a wide audience which is only going to help with sales. Equipped with over 1000 games available for download directly to your handheld you are not short of choice. The main competitor to the Nintendo DSi is Sony’s new PSP. The PSP has similar features to the new DSi.

To compare the DSi has 2 built in cameras, the PSP has 1 camera which adds on to the console to give a real camera look and feel. The DS and DSi both have touch screen which are lacking in the PSP although there are home brew options which allow the owner to install their own touch screen setup. Both handhelds can play and store music. Both consoles have capabilities to go online and both can play video. Overall they are very similar but it’s the technical specs which separate these 2 portable consoles as well as their individual game titles.

With the release of the DSi, naturally the DS and DS Lite figures are expected to slow down and maybe even decrease in price which is great for people who perhaps cannot afford the DSi price tag which is set at £150 in the UK. However because of this it may mean DS sales figures continue at a steady level which is currently relatively strong. (Over 100 million units sold.)

Nintendo have a huge sales strategy planned which will be implemented throughout 2009 to ensure the public have the DSi in the front of there minds which will help maintain and grow sales. This includes software and game releases which will bring out the full potential of the Nintendo DSi and the use of it’s functions like the in-built cameras and 2 touch screens. Combined, these features will give the user new and advanced gaming experiences.

With Nintendo DSi sales expecting to sore and possibly break records you can keep up to date with all Nintendo Handheld news and information by visiting our Nintendo blog at Nintendo Handhelds and if you are thinking of buying a Nintendo DSi then make sure you check out this website.
