Its a classic game and today PACMAN is celebrating 30 years of life. If you go to www.google.com you will find a playable version of the game on the front page in a flash format. PACMAN is still as popular now as it was when it was first released. Creator Toro Iwatan created a gaming legend.
A word of warning for you Firefox users out there. Many people are noticing that the PACMAN sound is not going away from there browser when they are surfing, even when they only have a blank tab open. To cure this problem keep reading.
Why does the PACMAN tune start playing when I open firefox?
The reason lies within the plugins of Firefox. When I first started up Firefox today this tune would not leave me alone and I naturally thought VIRUS. Don’t panic, it’s nothing to worry about. The common reason for this seems to be when a certain plugin called “coolpreviews” is enabled. To solve the problem select Tools>Add-ons from the browser tool bar. Find the “coolpreview” plugin and select disable. Firefox will then ask you to restart your browser and upon reopening the problem will be solved….hopefully.
If you have experienced this and have solved it some other way then please comment on this post so I can include the information for others. In the mean time enjoy playing PACMAN.

From this summer if you live in America you can expect to see anew logo appearing on new Wii Systems and it will be the heart logo from the American Heart Association. This will help Nintendo seal peoples opinion that the Wii System is a good fitness device and everyone must have one. Since the release of the Limited Edition Black Wii System all the consoles are being sold packaged with the Wii Sports fitness game and as of summer 2010 they will carry the AHA branding.
The American Heart Association are supporting Nintendo in the way they promote fitness and active play with the message that you should be doing 30 minutes of fitness a day at the minimum to keep your heart healthy. On average Americans spend eight hours a day sat down. Support from AHA could be just what Nintendo require because products from Microsoft and Sony are becoming good competition for the Wii and its gaming accessories.
I wonder if Nintendo have plans to team up with other brands in other coutries, the UK might be next? It wouldn’t be surprising if Doctors start recomending the Wii console as standard fitness device in the near future.

The Handheld Nintendo console due for release in October that I talked about in my previous post is to undergo a name change. During the last post I did say this is possible and this must have put a jinks on it as today I am reading that this is true. At a question and answer session president Satoru Iwata’s announced that 3DS was not going to be the final name for the console.
It definitely won’t be the first time this has happened, for example the Wii was named Revolution and was taken as its final name until Nintendo had a change of heart and changed it. We do know that the new console is going to be played in 3D and will most likely be a console hit for gamers this Christmas. For now we will just have to keep guessing.

Something new to look forward to, the new handheld that is to be released by Nintendo this coming October. At the moment for the console goes by the name of 3DS, although it will most likely stay at this it isn’t unknown for people to change theirs minds as Nintendo did for the Wii, which was firstly named revolution.
The 3DS will be a console designed to be played in 3D and use the latest 3D technology and will be seen for the first time at the E3 show in June. It’s anticipated that the date for release will be set for this October and not some time next year as previously thought. This would make sense because Nintendo would be set to cash in on the Christmas console buying frenzy and should do pretty well considering the world is hyped up on anything 3D at the moment, be it cinema or TV.
The technology used in the handheld 3DS will mean gamers wont need to wear any special 3D specs to bring the games to life, it will already be visible to the naked eye. How this technology will work is another matter and after reading an article on “Kotaku” it seems they have a reasonable speculative explanation. It talks about the DSi-ware game called 3D Hidden Picture……
“It’s a DSiWare puzzle game, available in Japan, that uses the DSi’s camera to track the movement of the console, and adjust the image accordingly to make it appear “3D”. It’s entirely feasible – taking into account Nintendo’s obsession with keeping the cost of its hardware down – that Hidden Picture is a pointer towards how the 3DS will work.” ….
The above idea is a good shot at guessing what might be, as Nintendo have confirmed that the new handheld will be compatible with the earlier DS and DSi models.
I guess we will just have to wait and see, we will keep you updated when we hear more info. The E3 show in June should tell us all.

I introduce to you the new
Nintendo DSi-XL
We have now opened a new store page for all our customers to enjoy. The DSi-XL was released in the uk a few weeks ago and is the latest in the DS family to be released by Nintendo. It boasts two 4.2″ gaming screens which is 93% larger than the previous DSi. Also included within the newly packaged console in a redesigned stylus pen which has gone down well with handheld fans.

The sleek looking DSi-XL has sold over 2 million units so far which is just a snip of how many Nintendo Wii’s have been sold which is a staggering 70 million units. But lets be fair the DSi-XL has been on the market for alot less time and these preliminary figures are promising for Nintendo and bring the total DS platform figures up to just over 27 million units.
To grab yourself a bargain then visit the link below which will take you straight to the DSi XL store page.

Cheap Nintendos can still be had in the offline world and I have the evidence. These past weeks when I have been away from the computer for various reason I have had the chance to keep my eyes peeled for Nintendo bargains in the high streets.
Last week me and a couple of friends were walking around the local shopping center and on-route we passed a second hand shop, sat in the window was a Nintendo Wii, black limited edition version. I had to drop in a inquire about the price and look at the condition. As I approached this little beauty I could see a price tag dangling from the box, you wont believe it, as I didn’t. £20. It had to be faulty, but I wasn’t going to hang around and ask to many questions in-case they realized the price should be some what higher, even for a second hand shop. After promptly paying and leaving with grin like a Cheshire cat I went straight home to plug it in.
Half an hour later and I was home, Nintendo in hand and heading straight for the lounge to plug it in and play. 5 minutes later we are set ready to boot up, I hit the button and everything is working, I had just bagged a Limited edition Nintendo Black Wii for £20 and couldn’t believe my luck. Only a couple of minor scratches, admittedly it didn’t come with any games so I used one from my other Wii but who’s complaining, I will definitely be making a profit on this little beast.
Keep your eyes peeled guys, either this shop didn’t know the value of the console or they had priced it incorrectly, either way there are still bargains out there.

Is it just me or is the official Nintendo site playing up tonight? I have just logged on to have a browse really to keep up with the latest Nintendo news and whats going on. I can get onto the site no probs but when clicking on a news story it just returns a 404 page not found error. Very annoying.
Anyway….as some of you may of noticed, I haven’t been around for some weeks. The offline world has kept me away from my computer and left me unable to make the usual blogs posts. I am back now and will be updating the Nintendo Blog as often and I can and is necessary. If any of you would like to offer anything to write about then I am always willing to listen and will most likely include it in a future post. I have even considered looking for someone to come on board and giving them access to post on the blog with news and info relating to the market. Anyone keen? For now it’s just me so until next time…..

$1.6 Million was the settlement
Australian man James Burt has been stung for a whooping $1.6 Million dollars by Nintendo for being the first person to illegally distrobute the newest Mario game. Super Mario Wii pre-release version was available on the webfor download illegally from November 6th 2009. James Burt was found by a forensic investigator employed by Nintendo to be responsible for copying and uploading the game. As a result he was taken to court and fined $1.5million dollars and ordered to pay $100’000 in fees. The illegal copy was downloaded thousands of times before it got shut down and this marks a big victory in the land of piracy.
I’m not sure if James Burt has the money tucked away somewhere to pay the fine back but the average person would probably declare themselves bankrupt and Nintendo wouldn’t see a dollar. So is this really a victory, and possibly james could make some cash of his new found fame? Piracy is definitly wrong but maybe a more realistic fine or perhaps a punishment would of been better suited?
