Is the New Nintendo Dsi compatible with the R4 chip card?
Mar 23rd, 2009 by Nintendo DSi
For anyone wondering what the R4 card is, it is a small card which plugs in to the back of your DS or DS lite and is the same size a regular cartridge. You then purchase an SD Card to store your games on. This plugs into the R4 card which enables you to play the games stored on your SD Card.

The R4 card, will not work in the new Dsi (released April 3rd in Europe). That’s right unfortunately the R4 card which has made friends with many will no longer be able to function with the latest handheld model, the new Dsi. This has been officially confirmed by Nintendo. There has been announced that there is a few cards already available but they only function in DS mode. This means no access to any of the DSi-specific functions. These are cards like the Acekard 2i.
