The E3 is being held in Los Angeles this year on the 15th of June and will reveal industry news about the gaming giants and secrets we have all been waiting to hear.  Most of us in the UK wont have the oppotunity to travel to Los Angeles to watch the event live and because of this Nintendo have setup a place to log on and watch the whole event live.

Head over to http://e3.nintendo.com/ and watch the event from 9am on the 15th June Pacific time.  If you are not available for this thenj don’t worry either because as normal Nintendos4u will be covering the exciting parts which will posted here on the blog in due course.  So be sure to check back in the days after the event.

Anyway….as some of you may of noticed, I haven’t been around for some weeks.  The offline world has kept me away from my computer and left me unable to make the usual blogs posts.  I am back now and will be updating the Nintendo Blog as often and I can and is necessary.  If any of you would like to offer anything to write about then I am always willing to listen and will most likely include it in a future post.  I have even considered looking for someone to come on board and giving them access to post on the blog with news and info relating to the market.  Anyone keen?  For now it’s just me so until next time…..

Many people want to know if they can Play Nintendo Games Online.  The classic games are far easier to come by and available to play.  Just searching Google will bring up plenty of options for you to browse.  There are web sites online which mean you can play the games without having to download software, simply play the games inside your browser using your keyboard.  The website www.nintendo8.com/toplist/more has a list of 100 games which can be played there and then.  You do have to be careful you don’t end up wasting days on this site.  It’s great.

Another option you have is to download a Nintendo emulator.  Although this is not the same as playing online it does mean you can play the games for free on your own PC.  To get an emulator and games follow the simple steps below.

1. First you will need to download an emulator.  Visit www.rom-world.com/emulators.php to find an emulator.

2. After downloading an emulator you need to install it by double clicking the file you downloaded and following  the on screen steps.

3. Now you have you emulator downloaded you will have to get some games, known as roms.  These are downloaded free of charge to your desktop and then you open the emulator, and from inside the console navigate to the rom you wish to load up.  So it’s best to store you games in a separate file on the desktop which you can find easily.  Some sites charge to download roms but there is no need you can find plenty of free ones on the web.  We will use the same website to get most games but if there’s a game you want that is not on the site then just Google it.  Type free “game name” rom and you should find one.

So….Goto www.rom-world.com and on the left is the navigation panel. Half way down is the list of roms by name of console, so select Nintendo or Super Nintendo depending on what you want. Then the next page will give you a list of games.  Just browse to the one want or search by the alphabet up the top.  Simple.

These emulators mean you can play Super Nintendo games online, Nintendo games, or if you are an Atari fan you can get these also.

Last week saw the announcement of nominees for the Game critics Awards 2009.  Several of these nominees where games set for Nintendo platforms.  The votes have now been totaled and the winners are in.

5th Cell’s unique puzzle platform game Scribblenauts for the Handheld DS won the best original game and best handheld game of E3 2009.  The game challenges the player to write down words on the touch screen which then magically appear as objects in the game to help you overcome its tricky challenges.  The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story also won the best Handheld Game award.

The Nintendo DSi is an upgrade from the DS Lite and there is some speculation as to what it exactly has to offer for the money and if it is worth it.  The sales figures have proven other wise though and it has become the most popular handheld console on the market.

The Nintendo DSi has already been released in Japan where sales have topped over 2 million in only five months and sales are still going strong. Game Stop’s CEO Bob McKenzie has confirmed that the pre-order sales figure has already doubled that of the original Nintendo DS. All this adds up to a hit console for Nintendo.

The DSi is an interactive device for the whole family and means it appeals to a wide audience which is only going to help with sales. Equipped with over 1000 games available for download directly to your handheld you are not short of choice. The main competitor to the Nintendo DSi is Sony’s new PSP. The PSP has similar features to the new DSi.

To compare the DSi has 2 built in cameras, the PSP has 1 camera which adds on to the console to give a real camera look and feel. The DS and DSi both have touch screen which are lacking in the PSP although there are home brew options which allow the owner to install their own touch screen setup. Both handhelds can play and store music. Both consoles have capabilities to go online and both can play video. Overall they are very similar but it’s the technical specs which separate these 2 portable consoles as well as their individual game titles.

With the release of the DSi, naturally the DS and DS Lite figures are expected to slow down and maybe even decrease in price which is great for people who perhaps cannot afford the DSi price tag which is set at £150 in the UK. However because of this it may mean DS sales figures continue at a steady level which is currently relatively strong. (Over 100 million units sold.)

Nintendo have a huge sales strategy planned which will be implemented throughout 2009 to ensure the public have the DSi in the front of there minds which will help maintain and grow sales. This includes software and game releases which will bring out the full potential of the Nintendo DSi and the use of it’s functions like the in-built cameras and 2 touch screens. Combined, these features will give the user new and advanced gaming experiences.
