Games for 3DS

The games for 3DS have other versions in Nintendo consoles but playing them in the Nintendo 3DS makes it a more enjoyable experience. For one, this console lets you view 3D images without the need to wear 3D glasses. 3DS, although smaller and heavier, has a breathtaking resolution and backwards compatibility. If you used to own DS Lite, don’t toss the games away because you can play them in the 3DS.

Games for 3DS: Nintendogs + Cats

Almost everyone has Nintendogs +Cats in their Nintendo DS, regardless of personality or age. It is one of the most realistic pet-simulated games in the gaming industry. Pet lovers will squeal with delight as they watch their virtual pet develop and grow. Nintendogs+Cats has significantly improved, thanks to the features of the Nintendo 3DS. The touchscreen, microphone, and camera will assure better interaction with your pet. For instance, your pet will mimic your movements if you position your face properly with the camera. There are three versions to this game: Golden Retriever, French Bulldog, and Toy Poodle. Plus, you get to unlock 27 dog breeds and 3 cat breeds.

Games for 3Ds: Pro Evolution Soccer 3DS

No 3DS experience is complete without a sporting game. Enjoy the world’s most popular game in your very own Nintendo 3DS with the Pro Evolution Soccer 3DS. Playing Pro Evolution Soccer in the 3DS is like playing it on the big screen. Needless to say, the graphics are detailed and pristine. No need to look twice to identify the famous players. The latest added feature to this game is the player camera, which puts you in the vantage point of the players in action.

Games for 3DS: Super Street Fighter IV:3D Edition

If you’re a Super Street Fighter fan, you’ll take it a few notches higher with the 3DS. In addition to the traditional game modes, the latest Super Street Fighter version for 3DS has StreetPass specific modes. This allows the user to command the figurines to fight in other battles even if the user doesn’t play the game. The controls have also improved, with the addition of the Light and Pro options. For the light mode, beginners can push a single button to manage different movements. As you become more experienced, you can fight other players with the Pro controls. Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition also features over-the-shoulder camera view to enhance the 3D experience.

Games for 3DS: Tom Clancys Recon: Shadow Wars 3DS

This game gets a thumbs-up, especially to those who are familiar with the Tom Clancy games. This turn-based strategy game lets you build and train your own elite special ops team to stop Yuri Treskayev from dominating the world. You have at least 6 classes of soldiers with many unlockable equipment and skills. This game also allows multi-player game play, particularly 1 on 1 challenges. Enjoy 35 missions and 20 skirmish maps.

Basically, many old Nintendo games now have upgraded versions for games for 3DS. Games for 3DS makes gameplay more realistic so you won’t even notice how much time you’ve spend for each game.

Are Sony going to copy Nintendo?

Sony copying Nintendo?

Surely not.  I have just been reading a post from the web which suggested that Sony maybe thinking of installing some kind of 3D slider onto the PS3 controller to have the effect of being able to adjust the degree of 3D play.  Is this true?  Has anybody heard anything about this?

I think that it could just be speculation but if they do then it just goes to show that Nintendo might just be clinching the edge of innovation in the gaming market.

How will the 3DS be advertised? that’s the big question.

Nintendo 3DS

Well in this image it definitely look pretty slick, cool and ready to take on the world, but the truth is Nintendo have admitted that advertising this new handheld, the 3DS, will be a tricky thing to do.

Why? I hear you ask.

The reason is because the console is a 3D graphical leader in technology which is great, but how can you show people the kind of footage and screen shots you need to when promoting the product when most modern technology is not capable of doing it justice.  The game play wont look 3D as it is meant to making the 3DS look terrible.  Nintendo have realised this potential problem and during an interview with Edge Magazine Hideki Konno says “…we think regular marketing and promotional activities will be very tricky for us. I think that a lot of awareness about 3DS will be spread by word of mouth.”

We will find out later in the year as to weather the 3DS will be a flop or conquer the handheld market.

Nintendo 3DS at the E3 show in L.A

Nintendo show off the new 3DS handheld at the annual E3 show held in LA. The video below shows their presentation by , and below is the transcript for the video.

Select either GT-SD or GT-HD to start the video

Presentation by Satoru Iwata

“Everyone this is Nintendo 3DS.  I can’t wait for you to try this.  As you can see it has 2 screens. and the upper screen has a 3.5inch wide screen display and yes it will show you full 3d graphics without the need for special glasses.  As you know Nintendo produced the first video game, first 3d video game 15 years ago and since then 3d has been a constant constellation in the hard ware planning.  What we searched for was a way to make 3d games a reality, a product for mass market and Nintendo 3DS is our answer.

Let me introduce you, here on this back we have installed a 3d effect slider to adjust the 3d effect.  You can maximise it or you can remove the 3d all together, or you can choose any degree in between, simply by moving the slider.  We have also given a lot of thought to the screen itself.  Because Nintendo 3DS is a successor to the Nintendo DS it naturally comes with a touch panel.  As we experimented however we realised that finger marks and other smudges reduced that 3D impact and so did the decreased transparency of the touch screen itself.  In other words a touch screen and 3d screen do not get along very well.  Because of this we decided to employ a touch screen only on the bottom justr as we did for Nintendo DS.  And what makes the images so impactful is not just the 3ds images but the nature of the graphics.  It’s been 6 years since we launched Nintendo DS, so while we’ve now added 3D We have also made improvements to the graphics capability of the hardware itself.  Something tells me this alone might cause lots of enthusiasm in the development community.

Next…Let’s consider control

We have installed what we call the slide pad designed for (???)  We have also integrated a motion sensor and a giro senor.  I’m really hopeful that just with Nintendo DS and Wii a number of new game ideas will be born to take advantage of these new control mechanisms.  Of course it has compatibility with Nintendo DSi, Nintendo 3DS has a camera too, but look here there is not one but two camera lenses on the outside.  What this mean is you can also take photo and view them in 3D.

Nintendo 3DS is the mass market device that lets you take and enjoy 3D digital pictures.  You may want to try out this function at our booth, and I want to mention one more aspect.  Nintendo 3DS is also capable of 3D movies, we are not announcing any specific plans this week but at our booth you will find the most ???? showing you 3D movie trailers for releases from Disney, Warner Bros and DreamWorks.  You can see DreamWorks “How to train your Dragon”, Warner Bros “Legend of the Guardians” and the Disney’s “Tangled” all playing in 3D on Nintendo 3DS.

To our knowledge this is the first time, any such 3D content has been demonstrated without the need to wear glasses.”

E3 2010 and the new Handheld 3DS

With the E3 show on the horizon the chat about computer consoles is at a high and Nintendo is right up as one of the top players as one would expect.  This time the E3 show promises information for the awaited Nintendo handheld console the 3DS, although the name of which is likely to be confirmed/changed at this event.  After browsing the web today I came across an article on the IGN site commenting that there is a chance the new handheld 3DS will be more powerful for graphics than the Wii, and close to that of the Xbox 360 and Playstation3.

Its not been long since the release of the latest DS family member, the DSI XL which is an upgrade from the DSi and hold larger gaming screens.  The 3DS is due for release in October this year and is the first 3D graphical handheld from NIntendo and could revolutionize the handheld market.

Keep checking back to this blog for the latest information as we report on the latest Nintendo events.

When Nintendo release the new handheld console later this year they have said it will contain better piracy security to combat the ongoing battle against the crooks.  Software sales have seen a slump of recent times due to the ever evolving methods of being able to clone games and sell them cheaply, then chipping consoles and handheld consoles to enable them to play such games.

In a statement Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said the new 3DS console will have secret ways to combat software piracy although naturally he wouldn’t unleash any details so methods to crack it can’t be formulated.

Nintendo 3DS due to change name

The Handheld Nintendo console due for release in October that I talked about in my previous post is to undergo a name change.  During the last post I did say this is possible and this must have put a jinks on it as today I am reading that this is true.  At a question and answer session president Satoru Iwata’s announced that 3DS was not going to be the final name for the console.

It definitely won’t be the first time this has happened, for example the Wii was named Revolution and was taken as its final name until Nintendo had a change of heart and changed it.   We do know that the new console is going to be played in 3D and will most likely be a console hit for gamers this Christmas.  For now we will just have to keep guessing.

Handheld Nintendo 3DS

Something new to look forward to, the new handheld that is to be released by Nintendo this coming October.  At the moment for the console goes by the name of 3DS, although it will most likely stay at this it isn’t unknown for people to change theirs minds as Nintendo did for the Wii, which was firstly named revolution.

The 3DS will be a console designed to be played in 3D and use the latest 3D technology and will be seen for the first time at the E3 show in June.  It’s anticipated that the date for release will be set for this October and not some time next year as previously thought.  This would make sense because Nintendo would be set to cash in on the Christmas console buying frenzy and should do pretty well considering the world is hyped up on anything 3D at the moment, be it cinema or TV.

The technology used in the handheld 3DS will mean gamers wont need to wear any special 3D specs to bring the games to life, it will already be visible to the naked eye.  How this technology will work is another matter and after reading an article on “Kotaku” it seems they have a reasonable speculative explanation.  It talks about the DSi-ware game called 3D Hidden Picture……

“It’s a DSiWare puzzle game, available in Japan, that uses the DSi’s camera to track the movement of the console, and adjust the image accordingly to make it appear “3D”.  It’s entirely feasible – taking into account Nintendo’s obsession with keeping the cost of its hardware down – that Hidden Picture is a pointer towards how the 3DS will work.” ….

The above idea is a good shot at guessing what might be, as Nintendo have confirmed that the new handheld will be compatible with the earlier DS and DSi models.

I guess we will just have to wait and see, we will keep you updated when we hear more info.  The E3 show in June should tell us all.
