Your Free Nintendo DSi Guide

If you have been following my blog then you will know I took the plunge and tried out one of these “Free Nintendo DSi” adverts you see dotted around the web.  If you haven’t caught up on that post you can read it here.

I thought as a follow up to that I would write this short guide so people can see exactly what I did to get my Free Nintendo DSi and then you can decide whether you want to go ahead and try this for yourself.  I must quickly add that this is not limited to Nintendo DSi’s.  When you get on the free site you will see there are various different options of gifts you can choose from.  All of them are free and range from a mobile phone top up voucher to a brand new Apple Mac.  The only thing that limits you from getting them is the number of refferals you earn.  More on that in the guide.

So lets get started, I will  the where and why’s cos that was in my last post.

The Free Nintendo DSi Guide

1.  After clicking through to the free give away website (here – read whole guide first) you will see the following home page.

Free Nintendo DSi Website

You will need to add you email address into the “Sign Up Now” box you can see on the right and hit the “Go!” button.

The next page will need to you to create your account by typing in your details and agreeing to the terms and conditions.  You must be true in these fields as they use this information to send through you free gift.

Create Your Account page

If you have successfully filed out your details you will be taken to the page below, if you have missed something out then it will go back and ask you to correct any mistakes.  This tells you that an email has been sent to the one you registered with and to verify it’s a correct email you need to login and click the link inside the email they sent you.

Continue Page

After clicking the verification email you will see the image below and it will instruct you to close the window.

Verification Email page

Now that you have done this you can go back to the previous window you had open and click the continue button.  You will now be presented with your account homepage.  Here you will have various options.  You will notice a icon just below the top navigation bar that tells you, you haven’t yet completed you offer.  If you do not complete an offer then they will not send your free gift.  So the first thing to do is select which offer you are going to sign up for.  The offers are listed on the current page you are viewing.  Personally I opted for Napster because I like my music and took advantage of what they were giving away, you might as well make use of it.  You will more than likely need to sign up using card details of some description because you are signing up for a free trial service.  This is absolutely fine but be aware that after you have completed your free offer period, go back and cancel your subscription because it’s likely they will deduct the subscription fee on a monthly bases.  Of course if you like the service then feel free to carry on.  I just advice to cancel because this is a guide for a Free Nintendo DSi.

So when your offer has been processed you are half way there.  Lets click the on the “My Gift Tab” on your account home page.  (i’m going to ease off the pictures now you have the details out the way, the rest is straight foward)

This brings you to a page that says “You have currently selected the £50 Topup Voucher as your free gift.  To choose from our selection of gifts, please click here.”

Unless you keen for the top up voucher click the link.

This is the best part, browsing the gifts for your chosen free prize.   If you wanted the free Nintendo DSi as titled in the guide then scroll down. At the time of writting it was about 3/4 the way down the page.  Click the gift you are interested in and it will display at the topof the page.  Now lets take the Nintendo DSi as an example.  You can see that to be rewarded this gift you need get 8 referrals (correct at the time of writting, may increase or decrease due to demand).  So on top of the offer you signed up for you need to get 8 referrals and they send you your Free Nintendo DSi.

How do I get referrals ?

Let me show you.  Click the “Refer Friends” tab to get you own unique referral code as seen below.

Free Nintend0 DSi referral code

Use this code to advertise your link around the web.  There are easy, free ways of doing this.  I’m in the process of compiling a short guide now and you can get that for free when you sign up to my free newsletter and members area.  (Check out my home page for details.)

So there you have it.  You can now and grab your free Nintendo DSi.  And by the way, when you have enough referrals, dont stop there.  The more referrals you get the more gifts you get, and you only ever have to complete one offer.

How can I get a free Nintendo DSi

Is this a scam?  Can I really get a free Nintendo DSi just like all the web banners say?

If you are wondering if this is really true then you are in the same boat as I was not so long ago.  I saw one of many ads on the web claiming that I could get a free Nintendo DSi.  Well as most people will tell you don’t get something for nothing, so I decided to try this out because I have seen so many of these.

I clicked the ad…..

The first step was taken and I am completing the cycle of another member by clicking their ad, as I later found out.   After clicking through I was taken to the website that holds the promotion.  I was sure to have a good read and find out exactly how this worked.

How it works…..

“All you need to do to receive a gift is sign up, complete one offer yourself, and refer friends to do the same. We are paid commission for each offer completed by you and your referrals and we use this money to pay for the gifts.”

That is what the website tells me and they are right, to explain it abit more what basically happens is this.  You have signed up to get a Free Nintendo DSi,probably through an affiliate link.  In order to get your free console you need to complete one of the offers that the promo-site lists, please encourage others to sign up for their free console.  There is plenty to choose from, I went for the free music from Napster.  Depending on the free gift you choose (you have plenty of options) will determine how many other people need to sign up.  The greater the value of the gift the more people you need.

When you sign up to the company offering the trial (Napster), the site offering you the free console gets paid from them for getting another member to sign up.  They use this money to buy a Nintendo DSi console, as well as having some cash left for profit.  When you have sent through other people to sign up to this scheme you then receive your free console after the company offering the trial confirms that you did indeed complete the offer to the end.

Everyone is happy…

The trial company (in my case Napster) has gained another potential customer, which they hope to keep. The website offering the Free Nintendo DSi gets the money left over, plus other people now registering for the scheme which make them more money, and you the receiver will receive your free Console.  Everyone happy.

You will find that when you get to the promo site you don’t have to opt for the Free NIntendo DSi, they do have other options.  There are iphones, PSP’s, Nintendo Wii’s, Nintendo Dsi’s, hoovers, televisions and alot more.  As I said before the higher the value of the product you want the more people you need to sign up before you get your gift.  So they obviously have worked out a money/new sign up ratio.

So if you want to take part then click this link. I did and i’m loving my new toy.

Mario Classic available on the Nintendo Wii.

Not long to wait now!  As of November in Europe you will be able to buy the classic Mario for your Wii.  Below is taken from the official Nintendo website.

The classic Mario platform game is coming to Wii! For the first time, you can experience an action-packed Mario platformer on Wii with simultaneous multiplayer fun as New Super Mario Bros. Wii launches across Europe on 20 November.

A classic 2D adventure, the game follows the style of New Super Mario Bros. for Nintendo DS. Princess Peach has been kidnapped by Bowser and it’s up to Mario to save her, but this time he’s not alone! Up to four players can join in the fun at the same time, playing as Mario, Luigi or either one of the Toads. Of course, you can also play solo and perfect your performance but friends and family will soon want to grab their Wii Remotes and join in the mayhem!

New Super Mario Bros. Wii offers a mix of cooperative and competitive play. Work together to rescue Princess Peach, or use your skills to battle for the best ranking. Co-operate by saving your friends from danger – or get rid of the competition by tossing them straight into it!

The game follows the style of New Super Mario Bros. for Nintendo DS with new twists utilising the unique features of Wii. The motion control capabilities of Wii have been cleverly implemented to enhance the gameplay at certain stages. For example, the player can angle a see-saw like platform by tilting the Wii Remote, to reach secret areas or angle the beam of a lamp to see the way in the dark!

New features in the game include the new propeller suit, which, by shaking the Wii Remote, allows your character to fly and hover – great for reaching secret areas. You can also use your suit to help your fellow players, for instance if another player picks you up, you can both fly together! There is a new penguin suit too which enables you to throw ice balls at your enemy and jump onto your stomach and slide with incredible speed across icy sections of a stage. Players can even ride different Yoshis through the crazy and imaginative levels, using their tongues to swallow enemies – or their fellow players!

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is also the first Nintendo game to feature a dynamic help system, which allows you to access a mode showing how a level can be completed if you are stuck. The best thing about this mode is that you are free to jump into the action you’re watching on screen at any time!

There really is something for everyone in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Collaborate or compete with your friends and family for the ultimate simultaneous multiplayer Mario fun when the game launches across Europe on Wii on 20 November 2009.

Backing up a Nintendo Wii game

In this breif article I will explain how you might go about backing up your Wii games.  The only reason you should be backing up,and making copies of you games are because you want to keep the originals safe incase they get lost and damaged which may make them unreadable to your Wii console and and un playable.  I must state that you should not be burning Wii Games to then sell on for profit or ven give away for free.  This is breaking the law.

So you want to burn your Wii games but are not sure how to go about it?

First you need to consider the tools for the job. These are pretty basic and the only thing you need to spend any money on is a some kind of software that will decrypt the protection Nintendo have put on all games to prevent piracy.  Software such as Easy Backup Wizard (at the time of writting have 50% off – link at the end of the article) will do the job fine and will crack any console game not just games for the Wii.  I will assume that you already have a dvd writter and blank discs available to burn the games on to.  Therefore the software is your only out lay and really an be seen as more of an investment. (Plus, it will also backup movies.)

So it’s really just a case of loading up the Easy Backup Wizard software, following the instructions which will tell you when to insert your Wii game, followed by the blank dvd to copy it to. The result is a perfect backed up version of your original game.  You should now be able to play from your duplicate version and keep the original safe until you need to make a new copy.

Nintendo DSi Specs

The Nintendo DSi is the most recent member of the DS family and boasts some nice additions to the previous DS Lite.  Take a look below to see what all the fuss is about.

Two screens, 3.25 inches in size. They are larger than the previous DS Lite and have a resolution of 256 x 192. The screens are smaller than the Sony PSP which has a 4.3 inch display and the Apple I-touch at 3.5 inch but bear in mind that the DSi has two screens creating a bigger viewing area.

Cameras. Two cameras provide the DSi with unique gaming abilities and one of them is VGA. The first camera is located on the internal hinge to capture the players face and the second is located externally on the corner of the lid allowing the user to take pictures like a proper camera and using the gaming screens to view the shot. The PSP has an optional camera, which is 1.3mega pixels. The iPod Touch has a built in camera of 2 mega pixels.

Memory wise the Nintendo DSi provides an SD Card slot along with internal flash memory storage of 256mb. The PSP can hold a memory card of up to 16gb and the iPod Touch has 8 to 32gb depending on which size the owner opts for.

All handhelds mentioned have Wi-Fi capabilities. This is an excellent feature which allows users to surf the web, connect with other consoles of the same type, and download new games, applications and software updates. They all have their own customised stores. Nintendo DSi has the DSi – ware shop, PSP has the PS Store and the iPod Touch uses the App Store.

The DSi has single touch screen technology, the PSP does not have this capability although there is a home brew piece of equipment that owners can buy to set up their own touch screen function. The iPod Touch does have touch screen which is multi-touch technology.

The Nintendo DSi is 12% thinner than the DS Lite but the length is a little longer. The power switch on the DS Lite has been replaced to a button on the DSi which is going back to the original DS. A matted finish has been applied compared to the gloss finish of the DS Lite, which is meant to prevent showing finger prints.

The CPU in the Nintendo DSi is an ARM clocked at 133 MHz and has 16 MB of RAM. and the speakers have been improved from the previous model.
